CIDI Helps Celebrate Fairfax
June 11-12-13, 2004
Fairfax County Government Center
Press Release: 16 June 2004

Fairfax County, Virginia, June 11-13, 2004 – For the third year in a row, CIDI joined hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors at the Fairfax County Government Center their annual "Celebrate Fairfax" Festival – Virginia’s only music, entertainment and tech festival. This unique festival is the most anticipated annual event in Fairfax County, a community of more than one million residents. It was quite aptly advertised as "The Best Ticket in Town!"

More than 80,000 attendees came to the Festival for three days of music, food, fun and educational programs as diverse as the populations they represented. The Business Expo was centrally located and visitors passed through en route to other events. The mix of multi-cultural vendors, educational exhibitors and displays easily captured their attention. For example, visitors to the Caribbean foods booth, stopped at CIDI’s presentation to discuss and learn about appropriate disaster response for the hurricane season. Many visitors signed up for volunteer training. Also, recent events in Haiti and the Dominican Republic were subjects of interest to the visitors.

Attendees will go back to their families, communities, workplaces and places of worship to share what they have learned about how individuals, groups and corporations can provide the best assistance to victims of disaster around the globe.
